Sealed biosphere (pod/shrimp/worm jar)

Postby irvine » Thu 13 Dec, 2018 4:08 pm

So I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube lately of these “biosphere/tarraniums” super easy and I’ve made a get freshwater versions of my own. NOW I’ve come across a few natural sea water and sand kind.

They seem to work, just a large jar, sea water, sand and sea weed with a sealed lid.
Of course there’s die off in the first day or 2 but a few weeks in they’re teaming with pods, works etc.

Has anyone had a go, I’m thinking of giving it a crack, something different to watch.

Neil.

You'll have plenty of pods in a reef tank. come with the live rock.

What sand did you use? Off the beach, estury?

I haven't tried a salt water version yet, just thinking it'd be a cool little project. going to ikea today to grab a cheap desk lamp and have already washed out a 3L mason jar with a clamp down lid.
hope to give it a go next week.
