All of the power goes to the terminal strip which feeds the drivers and the DC converter. Please note that that photo was taken during the testing and initial setup of the unit. I have had all of the mains power components relocated to a safer location.

Cheers,

Hi,
Awesome tank setup. I have a couple of quick question about your leds.
1) Are you happy with the colour?
2) Would you change your combination of LEDs if you did it again?
3) How much have you got each colour channel dimmed?

Thanks. I'm taking the plunge and am having trouble choosing my colour combinations NW or CW, how many cool blue, ratios of white to blue, its soooo confusing :-s .

I just got my first batch of new SPS the other day. This is the first ones under the LEDs so ill see how they go.

Image

I’ll try and snap some more photos this afternoon when I have had some sleep.
As for the mixture, I am very happy with the results, It has a nice blue colour but not too overpowering. The actual tank doesn’t looks as blue as it does in the photos. I have 6 channels, 3 are blues and 3 are whites, all of them run at 800mA, but are dimmed and controlled by my Arudino controller. I don’t think that I would change any of them colour choices.

Cheers,

Jason

I went for a trip to Mackay and just happened to walk into the fish shop there when they were unpacking some new corals. I couldn’t resist picking up this new piece,

Image

It’s looking very good after making the trip home. It’s pretty big, about the size of 2 hands.

Cheers,

It looks like it’s going to take the changeover petty good, full polyp extension today, no signs of any dieback. No zeovite though.

More than enough for SPS, the tank is only 18" deep. Unfortunately I have pretty much lost the corals now, trying to kill off a plague of dinos that was overrunning the tank. Most of it has died off now, but it 2 of the colonies are badly damaged only the small green acro looks like it might make it. :wall:

I'm about to head off on a 5 week holiday too... so I am hoping that I will return to something still alive. When I get back I plan to make some big changes to the rock in the tank as I have never really been totally happy with the base rock that I used.

Cheers,

Jason

Well....

I have decided after quite a long break from the hobby that I am going to start prepping to setup this tank again. It has been sitting my my garage collecting dust for quite a few years now after the move down to NSW.

The tank and stand are in surprisingly good condition after being parked up for so long and I have started the cleanup and planning of what new bits and pieces that I need to pickup.

So things are slowly progressing, I will post some photos for anyone that is still floating around.

I have decided on using CaribSea base and life rock as the rock work for the tank.

I am going for a less is more type of setup with plenty of swimming space and open areas around the rocks.

I have also decided to go with a shallow sand bed in the tank and have picked up some Red Sea pink reef sand.
