Sorry Guys.....Chromus / Jrod !!!
Jrod, you're totally correct with the ratio's. I had counted our first model which was different when first released.
Reefin, rather than give our idea regarding the info you're after just send a text msg via au@orphek.com to get the latest info.

REEF1N, I'm setting up a 3 foot tank and will be using 1 x PR-156W unit, just waiting for it to be delivered. Once I get it i Can tell you what the spread is like, you may get away with a single PR-156W unit on a 3x3x2... and depending on the ratio you want that could alter the price. Best option would be to contact Peter from Orphek Aus and he can give you the latest pricing.

Flipper, with a 6x3x2 I'd probably get 3 units just so you dont get a dark patch in the middle. I'm not sure if anyone is selling this in stores in AUS yet, but again Peter can confirm this. Also the benefit of these not being in stores means no middle man = cheaper lights :D

Peter from Orphek Australia. As I said I don't know if they are available in shops, hence why we have all bought them direct without dramas.

Hay guys just to let you know one of my lights timers failed. Only the blue moons would come on. The timer had a sticky contact!

I had replies within a day and parts (UNDER WARRANTY) shipped to me within a week, with very little fuss. I will cut and paste some of the email below.

Today I came home to one light unit not working, the blue lights work but not the white? There is a loud electrical short noise coming from the controller? Is this unit still under warranty I brought them from you April last year?????????????????????

And IMO you couldnt have gotten better or quicker service. I will always speak highly of this company and their product. I definitly will be buying three more units from them for my new build.

I have recently had a guy from Oceanreefs in Perth come have a look/experiment and was quite taken back on the style, brightness, build etc of the lights but what got him most was we have done an experiment with some acros under these lights and the growth and colour has been exceptional....Considering i never had any under there before and am still suffering from NEW tank blues............Orphek say these lights are replacements for 250W-400W metal halides and thats exactly what they do...........

Sorry for the crappy Iphone pics but thats all i have.........

:withyou: :withyou:
Thanks for sharing Justin, we've had the same experiences with our tanks, which are now all running on Orphek LED models PR-156 & PR-156W.
We used to have both 400W & 250W MH's plus a few T5's, but our tanks have certainly improved since these LEDs were installed.
Customer service between us and Orphek have been execellent at every step of the way for over a year now.
Can't recommend them more highly enough. A certain individual at the Gold Coast could learn a very valuable lesson from them..... :poke:

To answer Flipper's question, these units aren't being sold in shops at present, that we've found, the beauty is hobbyists can buy direct & save.
Received info from Marine Depot awhile ago when planning an order with them.
In the States these units retail for approx. US$825 to $900, but hobbyists over there still buy from them, because they don't like buying over the internet.

As for how many units for a 6x3x2 tank, send an e-mail to Orphek and ask them for the LED lightspread diagram.
That way you can work out exactly what you need and where to place them.
Good Luck,

Hi Guys,
Just got my 2 orphek dif50xp pendants to run along side my pr 156 over my
4' x 2.5' x 2' deep tank, these are mothers of lights :nut:
now just have to work out how to mount them,
very well built lights,
had a demo with one over the tank earlier :-x
wicked shimmer from these mothers.
pics to follow in a week when i get them in place.
Ordered the lights on the 20th March and they arrived today
Great service from orphek crew also, replied to my emails

I have 2 156 R's suspended over my 100*75*75 system and the coral are certainly enjoying the upgrade! The lights were sitting in my shed for close to 12 months while I was getting all the hardware and tank together so I'm relieved the lights have met my expectations  . The setup is only 7 weeks old now so I'm looking forward to some colourful healthy corals. Only problem is I think the lights are a touch too bright with some of my green sps (monti and poci) and they are yellowing out a little though they are still kicking along, unfortunately the lights are hanging in a hood and I can't adjust the clearance height very much (currently 25cm above the surface). Yellowing may also be due to higher NO3s and P2O4s, lack of Fe or some other trace elements I have yet to master.
