Still have a few things to finish off with the return which i am working on. Also looking to set up an ATO coz i'm getting tired with adding water all the time.

Need to get a magnet holder for my 6060 and get my background made up.

All in all we are just happy to have a tank running again! Just need to add some more SPS when I find some nice ones around!

Looking good already!

Good to see that some (most?) of your corals survived 'the troubles'

I'll be keeping an eye on how you go

Been a long while since I have done an update.

Got some new goodies coming this week and should have a Calcium Reactor set up sometime in the next month if all goes well.

Clam - Got this from oceanarium a couple of weeks ago and it was brown. Have been dosing a fair amount of Kalk to try and keep the calcium up and the clam as slowly been colouring up.

It's really coming along Mike & Ali... you've done well to get it back so quickly. It must be just like starting afresh eh? Looks like you've got some good growth happening on those frags well done. Look forward to seeing it at the next meet. In no time at all you will be as full as my tank I'm sure!! ;)

Cheers

Should have my Calcium reactor up and running over the weekend if all goes well which will be great as kalk hasn't really been keeping up with the demand lately.

Photos to follow once I have it up and running

Just sitting there and the LR is holding it down in place. I had to cut it a little to get it in there, but the join is at the back of the tank under the rock work.

Thanks for the comments guys!

The Lipstick is definately one of my favourites! Luckily all the tangs get along in fact the only issue i sort of have is with the clowns they are a little agro but i think they are getting ready to spawn!

I have 2 more fish to put in which are in QT atm the moment, which is really probably a little too many but if i have issues i can always put something in my other tank.

Pictures to follow of the new guys tonight/tomorrow

The New and final tank mates to join after a few weeks in the QT.

Also have a lemon peel angel as well but that's in one of my other tanks.

All 3 were picked up from another MASAOG member who is closing down their tank. The angels didn't pick on SPS or other corals in their previous home, so hopefully that carries over to their new home! All are eating well and looking great!

Been a long time since an update but here goes.

Potters angel did not make it. Got stressed once it came out of QT and then got a swim bladder issue and died. That was disappointing to say the least.

Tank has since then also gone downhill in a big way. Got some high phosphates happening, lost most of the corals and both clams. A couple of corals are battling on, but not looking fantastic. I think it was the salt mix we were using, but have since changed to a better higher quality salt. Also found that my macro is not growing or if it is growing then it is very very slowly.

I have also ordered a Phosban reactor, small pump and some ecophos from AOA and should have them late next week. I hope this is going to help with the battle!!

Calcium reactor is offline due to not being able to stop a slow water leak after the thing broke. Will be looking at getting a new one in the new year after our upcoming wedding. But also might look into those BM Dosing pumps and see whats going to work better.

I would post some photos up but it is really depressing to look at so wait till the tank is back on track!

Ok it’s time for a MASSIVE update.

Since October last year a lot has happened and the tank did get neglected, but with a good reason as our Wedding did take up a lot of time! Once the big day passed and the honeymoon was over I thought right, its time I try and get this tank sorted out.

First job was to reaquascape the tank, big job as most people know! Took me a good few hours to do, but I am pleased with how it looks now and made more swimming room.

Next battle was to finally get on top of the phosphate issue that I have always had. The reactor I ordered last year was set up and some rowaphos was added and the phosphates slowly began to come down. I also stuck to a more strict water change schedule and started using the DD Oceans salt mix which I have found to be great so far! The fish also had to get used to a changed food schedule (I did tend to overfeed I think looking back) which has also helped with dropping the phosphates.

I did lose a couple of fish along the way, the bi colour blenny just stopped eating and slowly faded away, but I miss seeing it buzzing around the tank. The rabbitfish which was always skinny went belly up and other then being a bit skinny (but eating like a horse) I don’t see any other reason why it didn’t make. The margined Butterfly I was given to help with the aptasia control was going great and munching away all the nasties and was starting to take black worms and looking good, until one morning found him on his side not looking good at all, but with no signs of any issues and lost him a day later. Finally after the reaquascaping the two Blue Devil Damsels we had started fighting and then eventually got worse and worse and one of them lost the battle, was such a shame as I’ve had them since the very beginning  All other fish are still crusing along nicely, I gave my B&W clown to fellow MASAOG member and moved my large female maroon clown into the DT and shut down my nano. Tankmates now stand at:

1x Lipstock Tang
1x Yellow Tang
1x Brown Tang (scorpas)
1x Blue Devil Damsel
1x Diamond Wrasse
1x 5 Stripe Wrasse
1x Female Maroon Clown

Coral wise, the only thing that was still kicking was some green and purple morphs. So I was starting from scratch again. I have gotten some frags from ACT MASAOG members, singularia and sacros and some zoa’s. I watched the tank closely monitoring all the levels of everything. Then actually bought some corals (zoa’s/favia/turbinaria) from AAC and a green bubble tip nem which my maroon clown has been in ever since and is leaving everything else alone too which is great! The corals are looking good, except for the favia which has slowly retracted, which would be due to the fact my damn calcium reactor is still playing up (just about ready to throw the thing out the window and have a truck run over it!!!!). Looking to order a new reactor sometime in the near future and get the calcium all under control instead of having swings when it is working and not working right.

At the moment sticking to the kalk at the moment in the gravity fed ATO, but then of course the float valve decides to stick open has dump 30L of kalk into the tank and caused a nice snow storm which I am cleaning up still after a day. Tank mates and coral are looking all ok tho just need to clean all the pumps up which is a good excuse to give everything a good clean anyways and make sure all is good.

All in all I think I have finally turned the corner with the tank and things are slowly starting to look better. The phosphates are way down at 0.05 at the moment, nitrates are up a little at around 10-20ppm which is still not great, but better then it has been. Once I get the nitrate down and the calcium stable I’m hoping to get some SPS frags and get some coloured sticks growing!

Photos to come over the next few days when I get a break from work and get home at a decent hour and figure out how to take good shots with the new DSLR!

Here is a couple of teasers tho
