Theme: 3 Sequential Images that tell a story/narrative
We are looking for something a little different this month, that being 3 sequential images that tell a story/narrative.
This could depict a
1) Coral Growth sequence over time.
2) Fish or invertebrate Spawning event.
3) Hermit Crabs changing shells.
4) Interaction between Organisms.
5) Tank Cycle sequence.
6) Other sequential images that tell a story/narrative.

Please accompany your images with a description of the event you are demonstrating.

Note! Only the final image will need to conform to the 6 month time rule.

Please also note that submitted images must not be larger than 800x600

As always the subject matter needs to be marine related.

Prizes are only Valid for the month from winning.

Rules
  1. Each person may submit up to two photos in any given month by posting a reply to this thread and embedding the picture.
  2. The image must be 800x600 or less with the minimum of editing (normal post processing if you are using RAW). The aim is to display the subject matter as realistically as possible. Please also have on hand a full resolution copy of the submitted images on hand, as the winning images are made available as wallpapers for fellow users.
  3. No matting or framing on the images. If you add a signature / copyright mark please keep them to as small and inconspicuous as possible (too large and they become distracting).
  4. The photo must be your photo, but it can be from your tank, another person's tank, an aquarium or the ocean itself. But most importantly it must be your photo. The photographers retain all copyright to their submitted images whether they win or not however it is a condition of entry that you agree to allow MASA to use your image within the RTAW domain, and allow MASA and other RTAW members to download your image as a wallpaper for personal use only.
  5. The submitted photographs must be taken within the past 6 months, and submitted to the thread by no later than 11:59pm on the last day of that month. Photos must not have been submitted to the RTAW Monthly Photo Competition on a previous occasion.
  6. All entries will be looked at for composition, content, adherence to the topic as well as artistic appeal, technical and aesthetic qualities.
  7. Please refrain from comments in this thread.. (if you want to make comments on the photo's or anything else start a new thread or comment on a seperate thread).
  8. If people would like to add the specifications of their photo's feel free to do so but it is not a requirement.
  9. OVerseas Entrants are welcome to participate but due to sponsorship arrangements we currently are not in a position to ship prizes internationally. Overseas entrants can still gain recognition of winning such events albeit without any prize award.
  10. Prize must be claimed by winner within 1 month of winner being announced.

Entries close on the 31st of August at 12:00 Midnight and a winner will be announced sometime in July.

Good luck and happy snapping!

Is it possible we can relax the 6 month time limit? Growth sequence shots may need to go back a little further.

The last photo in the sequence is within last 6 months, that first and second can be 20 years ago if you like.
Note! Only the final image will need to conform to the 6 month time rule.

FYI we are trialling using the RTAW Gallery for hosting, voting and commenting on photos for this months competition. So your images will have to find their way in there to be voted for by other users and to be in consideration for the prizes etc.

I call this, "The highs and the lows". Yes, they are in chronological order.

Is it possible to set the gallery up so it displays them in chronological order, rather than in reverse chronological order?

Just throwing it out there, but I much prefer being able to see the photos on the page here, as they stack on each other. I can almost see all three photos at once here, whereas in the gallery you have to click through them (that's fine for the regular threads, albeit a little annoying having to click every one), but for this comp I like to see them in a quick flow which the gallery doesn't really allow. Maybe just me, but by clicking each one and not having the others to look at in the meantime it loses some of the "series" effect, as opposed to the ones posted here.

If you use the arrow buttons on the image window, you can run through them in a very nice sequence. Even easier now they are displayed in the forward order. (Thanks Dallas).
Just takes a little getting used to.

The theme is a bit trickier. I'm planning to get an entry in before the end of the month. Just need to work out which ones I want to submit.

Note that the competition is now closed to entries and now open for users to vote for their favourite series of images.

Voting is open for 7 days.

It is best if you vote for the final image in the sequence, not each individual image.
