My Clownfish Bites

Every time I put my hand in the tank one of my Ocellaris really bites hard.
This is very bad if I have picked up a big rock, it is so startling that I am in danger of smashing something.
It is living in a BTA right up at the top of the tank, so I guess I am threatening his territory.
Anyone else getting bitten?

Nasty little suckers they are. All I can say is that eventually you get used to it...mine has been doing that for over 2 years now.

Occelaris are pretty mild in the biting department.
My pair of A. ephippium are near life threatening. They have drawn blood in the past.

I find that distracting them by putting some food in the tank before I have to put my hands in helps.

Even then, if they have eggs on the go you put your hands near their brood at your own peril.

Its a clown thing, my Clarkii do it, Like Colins they draw blood. When they had eggs they have jumped out of the water and got me while my hands were working above the water, kid you not. One missed one day and ended up on the floor.

Mine is terror incarnate. Has even learned that the webbing between fingers is ultra sensitive and targets that area.
Drawn blood several times.

I have a pair of medium sized Occelaris that inhabit yellow Coral Polyps
I am in the tank and around them quite a lot ,keeping on top of a Caulerpa outbreak
and they have never ever even looked like attacking my hand
