Good Luck with the upgrade you've got some nice LPS going in the AquaOne.
What sort of scape are you going with in the 5 footer ?

Yeah, I didn't take photos of them but I am also having good growth with birdsnest, acro, monti and dallas

Haven't worked out what scape to put in the 5ft yet, probably a simple open layout with 2 stacks. :)

It's been a long uphill battle with finding the right tank builder but today I ordered the tank.

I've settled on a eurobraced 5' x 2' x 20" in 10mm starphire with an external coast to coast weir.
10mm eurobraced seems to be more than adequate and my floorboards should thank me with the weight saving :)

Should take 2-4 weeks...

I'm excited :)

I spoke with and got quotes from a few tank builders but in the end went with Mr Marine.
Todd and Tanya have been really helpful in assisting me with the tank design and looking at some of his previous work, the build quality is excellent.
There will be some really nice finishing touches that I haven't seen other builders offer but I will reveal them after I receive the tank and take some photos :)

You did well to get hold of Todd!

After seeing some of his past work I wanted him to build my new tank as well, but after about 3 weeks of trying to get a quote from him and never getting any replies to my emails or calls I gave up and went with somebody else.

Todd was the first on my list, but after calling him three times and not being able to get a hold of him I tried other tank builders.
I didn't really like the other quotes so tried calling Todd again; I got through and they were very helpful and always got back to me when they said they would... So, if you can't get through to him, keep on trying! :roflmao:

A long overdue update.

Here is the tank and cabinet design which was finalised some time ago (inspired by RodneyRi's tank):
Image

And equipment has started to arrive! Everyday over the last week has been like Christmas!

Jebao wavemaker and Tunze return pump:

Plumbing:

LED Sump light:

When putting a few of the plumbing components together, I was thinking about how the flexible air hose for the Bean Animal setup would need to be secured somehow... thinking further I decided to make the airline out of rigid hose so that
1. It could be more discreet
2. I wouldn't need to secure it somewhere, it could just stay in place

Going down to Bunnings I purchased these:
Image

I drilled the cap, screwed in the fitting, and then with some cutting and superglue, I made a rigid air line:
Image
Now all I need to do is fit the plumbing, find the optimal water level and then trim the hose

Today I received an update on my cabinet (Built by fellow MASS member, Morgan - Thanks mate! Awesome work so far!):
Image

It's all happening! Tank should be ready in within two weeks!!!

Looks good Kit, quick question on the stand is there a load bearing sub frame inside the chip board cupboards ?

If not I wouldn't be putting a 2ft tank on it, let alone a 5ft starphire tank.

Looking awesome! I just setup bean animal on my new setup and it's ridiculously silent. It doesn't even disturb the sump water, amazing.

Not much progress in the past week. Unfortunately there has been a delay, but I should take delivery of the tank and stand soon.

I purchased a second hand sump and reconfigured the partitions... removing partitions is really hard work!
But after a number of hours, here is the end result - and it looks like it works! Silicone work is a bit messy as I didn't want to spray the joins with soapy water to smooth it, but that's OK, it's a sump and won't be seen.

Finally an update!

Yesterday I took delivery of the cabinet.   I am very happy with how it turned out!

A HUGE THANK YOU to Morgan_1985 for making such an awesome stand!
There are a few details that you don't often see in a cabinet.. I highly recommend his work

The stand is a powder coated steel frame with Polyurethane cladding. Matt finish in Dulux Whisper White (matches my kitchen cabinets).

How much did Todd charge you for the tank?

Does the tank include plumbing work & cabinet? Or you have to build it yourself?
