The only thing I'm stuck on is heating - I'm up in the mountains so it's going to get chilly (already is) and I have this tendancy to hate chillers.

Anyone had any experience with these : http://www.aquariumproducts.com.au/cata ... rodID=6511 ?
or http://www.guppysaquariumproducts.com.a ... d_140.html

Previous tank owner had two 300W heaters running (don't really trust those either)

Hi Rach,

i run the 2 x 300w heaters and have had no issues with maintaining steady tank temp.

only issue i had was self inflicted when i drained my sump and forgot to switch off both heaters so one stayed on and cracked when the sump topped up again.i replaced it with a jager 200w.

those titanium heaters look good but just be aware that the pic of the digital controller is pretty much life size, its big.

Hi,

It's always better to have a couple of smaller heaters on rather than a single larger one just in case there is a fault with them.
I personally haven't used the heaters in your links but do use these and they have been working great for the last 15 months http://www.fish-street.com/weipro_mx101 ... ory_id=115

Don't forget to get some photos up of your setup, even if its not wet yet!

Thanks Salty - that's awesome to hear :) And very reassuring.
I made the same mistake once with a 220L drum and took the heater out and put it in a bucket, needless to say, that bucket is no longer a bucket ...

Thanks Obsessed - I like the look of that Weipro heater but havent had a good experience with their lighting in the past so a little unsure, but for that price I certainly don't mind giving one a go :)
Hopefully I can take some this week (still moving into new place, all that mattered was getting a tank in there, clothes etc can wait!)

Image err woops sideways...

Finally managed to do some filling, still need to go grab some more water tomorrow before work and probably have some time off this week to get it sorted. :pirate:
The weird brown patch on the weir is remains of coralline from before I moved the tank.

Cheers :)

Update - tank filled and running (well just the return for the moment) Had the skimmer on for a bit last night but unnecessary at the moment.
As I have a broken ankle, its been very slow going... Will be getting some help to move all my live rock from one house to the other this weekend :)

The damn weir is so noisy, stuffed a piece of foam in which seems to be ok for now

Mostly all the stuff from my 6foot as it has to be moved to new house. :)
Still havent got quite around to moving much else but theres a big arse rock of morphs, smaller rock of morphs, ric's.
Fish to come over are black and white occy, flame angle (not sure I want to keep it), my 2 eels, CBS, 2 blennies.
Going to try move some more stuff this weekend hopefully ...

I bought a heap from a local guy the other week who has a shopfront now :)
But really must stop myself buying any more.

Ideally once 6 foot is here and running, i just want my eels, boxfish and cowfish. Possibly another lion.

I love my flame angel but he decided to start nipping my corals so he's in my nano now :( how does your snowflake get on with your cbs? I want another zebra eel but I think its too much bioload for my tank so might try a snowflake or just get into some sps

Yeah I haven't seen mine nip anything yet, but don't want to take the risk really.

CBS is currently a little weiner, so it's in a small tank in the main tank and I just drop food in hehe.
Snowflake would eat it for sure... Zebra probably wouldnt but honestly not so sure as it has left everything else alone but a crab.

Yeah two eels is definitely a load, as long as there's plenty of water changes, it'll be ok !

Finally moved today...
All loaded up and ready to go !
Image

Catching the eels was not fun ... Mr Zebra decided he didnt want to be in the bucket to box transfer and flipped out and went UNDER the stand for a minute. Took dad and I both to grab the big bugger. Such a muscley piece of ... muscle ! And slime... argh. :( :wall:
So Zebra and Snowflake and both in 4ft for the moment while 6ft re-cycles at new place. Hopefully they dont knock too many corals over hah! :konk:
