Haven't forgotten your photos Martin, just having fun trying to resize them all, reminds me I need a new computer :roflmao:

Anyways, time for a small update!

One of new clams, other you can but is behind elegance and thus distorts when trying to photograph with camera. Will try do top down later.

As my girlfriend says, the "King" of the tank:
Image

New frag thanks to Martin (aka old_mr2):
Image

A few frags here, with many thanks to mnemonix here on forums (god I hope I spelt that right! :roflmao:, metallic colours starting to come through on this one):
Image

Chalice is showing excellent growth since the tank move, up much higher and seems to tolerate the halides much better than leds, has been on a MASSIVE growth spurt recently.
Image

Beautiful lavendar piece colouring up nicely, thanks to Ming/Michael/Galleri, he browned it out nicely but it's coming back nicely! :roflmao: :spit:
Image

Been very pleased with this one, was brown when I got it and took some time to settle in but you'll ntoice the colour slowly going up from the base now, it's very exciting!
Image

My new pink Mille, settling in very nicely, think it's about time to frag it up... Polyp extension on this thing is brilliant, hope it stays that way and grows well :crossfingers:
Image

This one, it's not much of an SPS really, but it's my first frag I started to have success with. Hasn't grown overly fast, but has coloured up from brown and I was pretty stoked with it. It's always got good polyp extension, and hopefully will start to really take off in the new tank. Like I said nothing special, but our first SPS is always something to remember right? :roflmao:
Image

Oh and last but not least, a FTS, not that it resembles anything remotely close to the real tank in my eyes, but oh well....
Image

Things to do still:
-Paint and install doors
-Redesign hood for higher halide
-Get wiring sorted out
-Change over sump
-Install chiller
-Plumb up RO ATO, etc.
-The list never ends, but i'm just taking some time to enjoy it all right now.

Oh and one more thing, KILL MORE XENIA. This stuff is impossible to get out of your tank. Wouldn't bother me, but it loves to be right where the damn SPS are, in best light/flow areas of tank. Scalpels come in handy here :roflmao:

Haha yeah, I monitored it for a few days and every so often it'd clip the SPS (because the SPS it was hitting obviously was very angry, and made the sinularia retract for a good few hours).

I have my pump position now so that the water movement pushes the sinularia to the left quite hard, none of the branches come into the sps area anymore which is nice. Stupid clowns still think the tree is fantastic, saw them doing their little dance together the other day but it'll be a long time before they're old enough to spawn I suspect.

Actually need to change over sumps today, and move seahorse tank, just waiting on a certain person by the name of Dave (thats you danger_dave) to stop working so much so I can pick up their new tank! :roflmao:

Been letting it all settle in lately, god it's good to be able to just sit back and enjoy it. Even if there's still so much un-finished, the "core" items are there and working, and the results are beginning to come through. After you slog it out on the tank all day and seem to get nowhere at least you can sit back and enjoy looking at it.

Very rewarding...

I was lucky enough to see Luke's tank the other day when I bought some of his rock he didn't want. Fantastic set up, does seem to take up most of his dining room though ! Very impressive.

PS, thanks Luke.

Thanks mate, and sorry for being so slack, organizing my storage (had a hard drive failure) and throwing them all up now mate :)

Just a quick new FTS, after taking the photo I cleaned the glass, in hindsight shoulda been other way round :roflmao:

Image

Oh yeah, and you may have noticed, I got a new lens, photo taken roughly 10cm away from the front pane of glass. Need to cut more Xenia out, damn [censored] growing like weeds!

Oh, and today the coraline algae battle began, I noticed specs (2mm diameter) of purple on all sides of the glass. Up till now in this tank it had only been rocks and acrylic, but guess it has settled down now since the move and all systems are go. I have a feeling I know who'll win in the long run, but i'm gonna try for now...

Yeah, just need to win the lotto... It's a slow process when ya tank is built off frags :roflmao:

Took this a few days ago, after lights just turned off, so got the clam retracted to show it's new growth:
Image

Unfortunately said growth has it downsides, such as the calcium and magnesium it's ripping out of the water rather quickly :nut:

edit: About 3 weeks worth of growth there.
double edit: Blue clam growing slower, but quite quickly also.

Sure are, and magnesium, scoffing it down! Going to move blue up higher, as it's growth rate is slightly slower, think it may be due to it wanting more light, we shall see.

Both of these are from Oceanarium, and for the first time today I turned off my pumps (except wavebox) and looked at the tank from above. Shame you can't get those colours out the front glass huh? :roflmao:

Anyways, pics!

Made myself a small refuge today, didn't have the space for another tank to went a bit make shift!

The great thing is, eventually the top layer always turns into a mat after a couple of weeks with this macro, and it sort of filters crap out of te water. And then when I harvest the macro I just give the base of the bucket a quick vacuum and jobs done.

Image

Also picked this up off Ebay for like $13 or so delivered. I've done heaps of brine hatchers in the past with coke bottles, but I must admit, this was just so much better. So much easier, less mess, less evaporation issues, and a better overall hatch rate. Once I have money i'll be ordering 4-5 more of them i'd say, to keep batches of nhbb going easily and maybe even try them with some rots. They came with non-return valves, air adjuster, and tubing. All you need is some water from your tank, an air filter, and the eggs.

Nice tank. Love that pink milli!
I know what you mean about the macro, I think if you let it grow long enough you wouldnt be able to break through the top layer! Lol.

So just a small update:

1) I am still alive.
2) Tank is doing horribly, thanks to a chiller pump coming loose from its socket due to a puppy, which happened to coincide with some of the hottest days we've had all year long.

Stuff Lost:
-Large Sinularia
-One and a half hammers
-Torch (well a few buds)
-Three sps frags
-Pink mille
-Four large acan colonies, five acan frags with 4-5 buds each.
-Two mushrooms
-Two wrasse which jumped ship when we were out and it got too hot.

Oh and my "nemos" finally moved into the crispa about three days before all this, no idea how but the crispa survived but is seriously bleached. Unfortunately many of the corals toppled over other corals, I really need some carbon in the tank now, skimming it loads and just hoping to get back on track right now...

Overall very frustrating, but what can ya do.

Oh yes, and dont worry, the Xenia wasn't even phased by the heat nuke, infact I think it has grown even more. I actually hacked it all back as close to the rockwork as I physically could a while before this so it was just a layer of slime. It has of course recovered fully and is growing well.... :nut: :wall: :wall: :roflmao: :roflmao:
