Deester's 48x30x18 SPS T5 Return - Done n Dusted

Postby Deester » Tue 14 Sep, 2010 6:59 pm

Introduction:

Well guys, after having to break down my last rimless T5 SPS system and move interstate ... I am now at the stage where the new tank has been ordered and should be around 6 weeks away from being delivered

System Objectives: A healthy dedicated SPS tank with a more substantial fish list this time around :roflmao: This tank is planned to actually stay running longer than my usual 10 month maximum ... Owning our new home helps in that regard.

System Type: Strictly SPS

Display System:

Strike up Date: TBA

Display Tank: 48w x 30d x 18h - Three viewing sides Starphire with 80mm one piece Starphire laser cut true euro brace.

Display Lighting: 10 x 54W ATI PM.

Stand: DIY :konk: Design yet to be finalised

Sump: 34w x 18d x16h Three sections with inbuilt R.O storage.

Support systems:

System Water: At this stage ASW, but hoping to find a reliable NSW supply :crossfingers:

Display Water circulation: 2 x Tunze 6205's with a Tunze 7096 controller

Return Pump: ATB MaxFlow 3.5K Return Pump

Skimmer: R.E Bubble King Mini160

Evaporation Top Up: Tunze Osmolator

Chemical Support:

Calcium Addition: Ol Faithful - Damp Rid

Alkilinity Addition: Ol faithful - Bi carb

Images:

A nice little render of what the tank should look like by the one and only n0rk

Paid a visit to the tank builder today and laid down a deposit on the new build, so hopefully in 4-6 weeks I will take delivery

Dedicated SPS T5 Reef with the intended fish list as follows -

10 x Dispar Anthias
1 x Royal Gramma Pair
1 x Regal Angel
1 x Purple tang (possibly)

Will post updates as they happen ... weeks away :roflmao:

Cheers,

Dee. :pirate:

Regal! :pirate: good to see you sticking some fish in this one Dee, it'll be nice to see your aquascaping skills paired with some movement. Good choice on the lasercut Eurobrace, I'm investigating that myself.

Should look sexy

Thanks for the comments guys  looking forward to putting this rig together :pirate:

Yeah I learnt my lesson from last time with putting minimum fish with maximum aggression in, this time around will be a different story ... Peacefull and nicely stocked :)

Ben, make sure your sitting down with a tight fitting nappy on when you get your quotes for the one piece laser cut euro mate :roflmao: It ain't cheap, but the finish is killer :-x will flick you a pm about rendering hahaha

Cheers,

Dee.

Gonna be epic, just like the last. Best of luck with it all, that euro bracing will be top bloody notch (And I bet it wasn't cheap, but so worth it if you can factor it in, looks sooooo good).

Gunna be a cracker, Dee

I think the PCS team better book a spot for next year. Daryn's changed your mind about running Zeo?

Like the rest of us, i'll be following with envy.

Great plan you've got with the tank. It has lots of potential.
I just hope you hold onto this one long enough to let it grow out. :poke:

Hey Dee,

Nice looking plans so far mate.
I also got a quote for my euro to be one piece... added a lot of cost for minimal benefit IMO
The glazier also would not warrant it for transit as they said every one they have made (for photo frames) has broken in the past.

Should look slick though

Cheers,
Derek

Hi Derek

Yeah mate, the one piece euro adds to the price, but form what people have told me my tank builders price is very reasonable for the laser cutting. It's such a nice looking finish I couldn't resist ;) My tank builder told me he couldn't go smaller than 80mm wide for the reasons you mentioned.

Cheers Dave

I'm looking forward to it too mate  Nah mate decided to keep the BK, it'll be perfectly matched for the system ... it's such a good little skimmer, so decided to keep it for now ... may possibly upgrade in the future if I win the lottery :nut:

Mate your frag tank looks insane ... great work man

Dee.

Ahhh, that is the reason for the 80mm euro, was thinking that is pretty big for your tank. It will look very nice agree.

Yeah mate, was hoping for a little less width for the euro ... but considering most of the fish I want to keep are notorious jumpers it doesn't bother me. Also means I can go nuts with the mag cleaner and not have to worry about any spillage :nut: :roflmao:

Cheers,

Dee.
