Not likely to happen short term. However if we could create a Pokemon subforum I reckon he'd be here in a heartbeat. ;)

Some photos taken of the tank in its new home.
Electrics are mainly confined to the tray below the tank. Have to do something to sort out the powerboard next to the tank. Only left it there because the JVP pumps have a stupidly short chord.

We also need to work out a neater solution for the fans than the box fan sitting behind the tank. It works very effectively, but is a little ugly.

Top-off reservoir is in the cupboard below the tank.

Midas blenny (Ecsenius midas). It has found a wonderfully positioned hole in the front of a rock perfectly placed so you can see it.

Pair of black and white Amphiprion ocellaris added 24/12/09.
The fish in the foreground is wild caught.
The fish in the background is captive bred. Thomas deliberately chose the CB clown with mis-banding, despite there being another perfectly marked CB fish available. I think he likes the individuality.

We also have a Bangai cardinal still up in the shed quarantine tank which we'll bring down in coming days.

Fish choice was all left to Thomas. Despite all the colourful fish he could have chosen, we seem to have ended up with a very Black and White theme.

Absolutely. He's really loving the tank. He spends half the night peering at it with a torch trying to find snails and 'pods. He was excited the other night to discover that the blenny "wears pyjamas" (ie displays night coloration) after lights out, which cracked us up.

Definitely an obsessive reefer in the making.

Thanks for the comments guys.
The tank is still tracking very nicely. It hasn't really skipped a beat. No algae or cyano problems to speak of (touch wood :crossfingers:), and fish and corals doing well.
We did lose the midas blenny - due to carpet surfing (of course :wall:). Those guys really would seem to be determined to see what's on the other side of the glass.

Around the same time I had to relocate some fish from my other small tank, so my WA algae blenny ended up in Tom's tank, and would appear to have moved in permanently.

The sump works well. Very nice quiet system. We still haven't put anything into the middle section of the sump. I have a few ideas of how I could build some stacking trays for a small DSB and/or refugium. May be a project for a little further down the track.

Most importantly, Thomas is still really enthusiastic about watching and caring for the tank. Whenever we have people visit, the first thing that happens is that they are dragged off to Tom's room to see his tank. (Would be good if they could get into the room without stepping on all his stuff on the floor though :sneaky:)

On to the pics.

Hey that xenia looks familiar, Colin!

Is Tom's tank going to be the next red morph/xenia wonderland?

(That xenia frag you gave me has doubled!! Crazy thing!)

Anyway, he has a great start to a 'career' in marines... I wish my parents had given me that opportunity. He's very lucky!

hmmm ... who knows what will happen.
Those red morphs are the last that I have left from the plague that I had in my 4 foot tank a few years back. Despite my deliberate attempts to propagate them, they are refusing to multiply. Go figure. I was re-using existing live rock that I had available, so they just ended up in Tom's tank. He kind of likes them. I hope we don't yet live to regret their inclusion. In the meantime they are nice and colourful.

We are doing our best to keep the Xenia away from the rocks. I have a feeling it could become a much worse problem than corallimorphs if allowed to go rampant.

He was going to have a flame hawk until I managed to kill it in quarantine :(
No other specific plans for fish at the moment.

How can you have a marine tank without it?

It has coloured up brilliantly, but we haven't seen very much growth to speak of. I can't say that we're getting a lot of growth on the corals in general to be honest, although they're not receding either.
I don't think it is a lighting issue. I think it is more a tank maturity thing, along with poor calcium and alkalinity stability. (Dosing has been very intermittent).

Those are taken on my Canon G9. Is a compact camera, but has a reasonable set of manual controls, and does a pretty good job for what it is.
Shooting in RAW, a little post processing to tweak the shadows and highlights, and a bit of a sharpen make all the world of difference.

Yes, Thomas's tank is still running, and he is still very interested (although I do most of the maintenance).
Very stable little system that requires minimal upkeep.

Not seeing a lot of growth in the Acropora, but the Dallas is putting on a nice show of colour.
The chalices are growing very well.
Haven't lost any fish (still just have the Bangai and the two black clownfish).

Starting to regret the addition of the corallimorphs. Have already had to implement a bit of a cull, and ended up removing and replacing a couple of rocks.
