No new camera lol.The hystrix sat a M+ for about a month, brown as brown could be,then one week I spotted the slightest hint of blue in the polyps, put it in Lornas tank and its really coloured up nicely.

Its been a while and nothing new in the tank so a quick full tank shot.

No holding back now for a bigger tank, my new 5 KW power supply,20 panels SMA inverter. With all the useal house stuff,4 fish tanks, the main one halides ,T5, chiller and air cond and pool all running ,meters still running backwards.Only showing 10 panels ,cant get photo of northern side etc.

Image
The important bit, from my research i found these are the only way to go for reliability.

Hi Chris
Tanks looking great as usuall
Yep I have to agree the SMA is the best inverter out there, mine a SMA5000tl on my 4.6kw is working great now the panels are all facing north & the inverter is wired correctly on these nice days Im regularily making 33Kwh a day half being used by the house & the other half goes into the grid.
If you dont already know download Sunny Explorer from the SMA site & as long as you have a bluetooth computer you can track what your system is doing on your computer like I do.
Cheers
Rick

Thommo , the slimmers outgrowing my tank, one day Il feel a tap on my shoulder and it will be it lol.The solar the first step for the new tank. Our power bills where hitting the $1000 a quarter ,i dont mind paying that much but i wouldnt want to pay any more. Now im not worried what extra power the bigger tank will use so il probaly stick with MH and t5.Hows your tank going ??
Rick yep the sma the way to go from what I've read.I asked the installer what I should be looking for if something goes wrong,he looked at me and said to be quite honest I can't tell you because he's never had a problem. Some of the other brands he used to instal he was forever going back restarting or changeing inverters.
He only instals SMA now and won't touch anything else. What did they actualy do wrong with your system when they wired it up?With sunnyboy explorer what does it actually do?Im not 100% sure if our comp has bluetooth but Im pretty sure the IPAD does.Just have to get someone with a bit of computer knowledge to help me out.

Hi Chris
To cut a long story short the contractor that installed my PV system was doing dodgy work for them & installed half my panels on my shed & so basically that meant 10 out of the 20 panels werent working properly ,so I complained & they came out & moved those 10 panels & wired them correctly(they told me it was wired wrong) & (Im no electrician all I know is there was only 1 wire coming into the invereter then & now theres 2 wires) & now Im making twice as much power as the comparitive time last year.
As for Sunny Explorer its just a programme download it here http://www.sma-australia.com.au/en_AU/products/software/sunny-explorer.html that allows you to hook up to the invereter via bluetooth & track what power its making in realtime graphs & lets you see how much youve made per day,per month & per year,it has a glitch in the programme where it sometimes misses a day or adds 2 days together but it works resonably well & I like being able to see what Im making & check the power bill when it comes in.
Cheers
Rick

Must have been quality electricians there Rick :konk:

Yeh hitting above the 1K mark does hurt when it happens too often, that was the main reason we went with the solar. Wish we went large as yours but...... meh!!!

Tanks going well. Was only thinking I'm overdue for a decent update. Might have to get something out soon  Maybe :roflmao:

We had about 10 quotes ranging from $14500 down to $ 5500 etc..Do your research,we spent 3 months looking and went with a small local guy.My thoughts are go with a quality inverter and panels of mid quality. Our payback period is about 3.5 years on average production of 20-25 kw a day.Theres a lot of sharks out there google greentech forums and have a look.
