frustrating isnt it, when you throw them back in the sea, and all that food floats around permanently, and acro and dendro grow in the same spot...

Thanks guys, it won't be nearly as challenging as the coloured sticks but will be a glass box packed with fluro colour hopefully :pirate:

Shane once I get the params stable again I might be chasing a frag of a stag or two, will swap you some photos for a frag

yep, bloody frustrating but it just goes to show what is possible in large volumes of water! all these crazy ppl with nano tanks are up against the wall from the get go. It is amazingly expensive trying to replicate the ocean and we don't even come close :nut:

yeah Jamie bring on the flubber :pirate:

one of the biggest challenges I think I will face with this new tank is keeping the size of corals which can inflate and wage war with sweepers... I have always liked the look of densely packed reefs which is much easier with SPS than it is going to be with lps corals.

I finally took the plunge this morning and took the coral cutters to my red goniopora somaliensis and now have 3 :) it was growing so quickly that it was taking over the dendrophyllia and altering its growth on the one side. hopefully it makes a quick recovery :crossfingers:

i've found it to be a quick grower Jase. apart from visual size which it doubled in 6 months it had plenty of encrusted growth around the edges but my tank gets a lot of particulate foods which probably keeps its growth rates high.

Dan,

I've been reading this journal for a while, but never actually 'tagged' along... what a cracking tank you have, one of the best on RTAW that's for sure

Couple of comments I must have missed in my travels

sorry guys... tank update: its been running itself for a few months but it is still running.

everything was going well, the only really strange occurrence is i lost some Goni's. My red one has been with me for 2 years or so now and it got fraged 3 times and always encrusted quickly and then within the space of 24 hours last week it was dead. not one but all 3 red goni's simultaneously dead in 24 hours (all the frags from the same coral and all in different sections of the tank :-s ) yet my green goni is fine..

will get some photos together soon i promise
