Tank photo updates

Full tank shot. Added some new acro's, softies and LPS.

Image

An angled shot. Still waiting for the brown algae to go. I have installed a phospahte reactor to bring the phosphates down. The algae is slowly dying off.

Image

A side shot of the tank

Image

Sinularia ( I really like the colour so I hope it maintains this)

Image

Got 5 of these guys (Barrier Reef Chromis)

Image

Unfortunately only 2 are left. 1 jumped out of the tank and 2 of them died after being attacked by the Blue chromis.

Closer pics

Acros (really struggling to show the right colours as they seem to be less intense than real life)

This one is blue tipped with light body
Image

This one is light pink
Image

This one really has purple tips and bright fluoro green polyps. I tried to adjust settings with photoshop but still could not get it any closer.
Image

Image

Reddish monti
Image

The millie was a pink, but has now changed to a slight yellow tip
Image

I've not had too much success with hammers in the old tank but I thought I'd give a it another try
Image

Heliofungia
Image

Zenias (1st one is pulsing)

The new Blenny

New equipment

Maybe another tang. Either a yellow or a Blue. I would like to get a clown tang, but I think the tank will be too small for it.

Looking great. How do you find the light spread on those reflectors over 3ft? Do you think SPS would be fine anywhere?

The light doesn't really spread out enough to the back because I didn't hang the light back enough. There is newer model that is supposed to spread the light more. I will be adjusting the lights so that there's a bit more light to the back of the tank. This means that I will have to move the front bommie back a bit.

Came home and found that the clownfish had their first spawning in the new tank!

No plans to raise the fry as I don't have the facilities and time to raise them.

The feed tube is just submerged next to the inlet. So far so good it hasn't stopped.

Finally recieved my Vortechs MP40W's and installed them. They're great and take up much less room than the Tunze and other powerheads. They also have great flow and flexibilty with flow control. They are currently set on reef crest mode on 100% in anti-synch mode.

Here is where I have mounted the wireless drivers, out of reach from the kids.

Image

FT shot to show how little space the Vortechs take up in the tank.

Image

And a crappy side one

Image

New fish - Mimic Tang (Acanthurus pyroferus)

Image

One spot fox face (Signaus unimaculatus)

Image

And a close up of some red acan

Thanks guys for all the positive comments.

I don't know about winning the algae battle I'm still needing to pull out a sock full of bryopsis every fortnight. The hair algae has gone which is great.

If you squint you can see them

They are slowly encrusting onto the aquakneed. The pink birdsnest is starting to colour up a bit now and the montis are also starting to grow a bit....I just need more time.....and more frags

Hey Mate

Have you considered upgrading to a Lumen bright full reflector? At 2' wide it would spread the light beautifully and still allow 6" either side. Nice tank btw. Love the 3 foot width///

I did at first when I tried to order them but they were out of stock. At them moment I can't justify spending the extra $$$. Everything is growing quite nicely. Acro will grow when placed on the sandbed at them moment so light penetration is pretty good.
