Bubble’s Cube + 4Ft Frag Tank - Finnal Update- March 09

Postby bubbleboy » Fri 02 Nov, 2007 12:50 pm

Bubble’s Cube!

Ok, Here I Go,
Been on RTAW for a while now, basically just leaning from everyone here before I venture in to a full SW system.
As with many of our fellow reefers coming from FW tank’s, SW is a bit deferent in how thing’s are set-up
My first SW tank was an all in-one 90L tank witch I set up in early 2000,
Due to a growing family, my attention was focused elsewhere so the tank was left to fend for itself. :konk:
But now the little ones are almost out of my hand (4 & 3) I thought this would be a good time for me set up my dream tank.
Witch is a 4 foot tank I brought a few month back from St-George, now to cut a long story short I come across this cube( I call it cube!!) so I thought I’ll replace the 90L all in one I have, as I was very limited to what I could do with it,
I end up setting this one and the 4 foot waits for his time in the corner of the study. :nut:

I’ve lean so much over the past year on RTAW that have given me more confidant in setting up a marine tank , but as will everything in life, you never stop learning!

Hi Tai,
Thanks mate, The P/birds nest is doing great, I have two, one witch I got about 8 weeks in to the set-up, and one about 12th week, unfortunately not long after I got the first one I wanted to try and seeif MH would bring out more colours in the tank, I made the mistake of having the MH to low, the result, BBQ my SPS and a few LPS, :wall: :wall:
Needless to say I've decided to go back to using the T5, Not satisfy with the colours of the Sun Sun tubes, I've change them to ATI tube, The improvement was instant! :o

I've gotten a couple of free coral crabs in some coral but getting a free goby with coral, that's what I call a SCORE! If I ever see a little goby on a coral in a store I'm nabbing it ASAP!

Love the rics too, got to find me some of those.

Thanks Mate,
The skimmer adapter your referring to is basically the original fitting from RO, all I did was to Super Glue a 25mm( if i remember correct) elbow irrigation fitting to it , as there is not much pressure at that point, it das the job, Hope that helps, I could take a close up of the fitting if you like.

WOW.... ..... How time flight when your soo consume in our tanks... is been about 8 month sense I've had the 2ft cube set up
All live form and critter are doing fine apart from a few casualties, and lost a few acro frags due to them been stint by LPS,
had some new inmates, pair of purple gobys,a small yellow tang, a small clam( not sure what it is ) a few colonies of Zoas,
hook up the chiller ready for summer....... did we have a summer this year in SYD?? !?!? :o

I manage to pick up a few thing from a fellow reefers who was shutting down his tank, a few colonies of Zoas, clam, SPS, and a 4Ft frag tank!
Manage to set up the frag tank, and is been running it for about 6 weeks now,
had a few issue with hair algae bloom, employ two helpers( lawn mower Blenny, Rabbit fish) and now I have the algae under control..
Stand is DIY stand , steel frame with wood cladding and doors, run a refugien with live rock and Micro algae to help with fuiltration.
Skimmer is a DIY Beckett with i build using spec from AO.
so far so good, all i need now is to let them grow... grow....
If you see anything in the frag tank that you like, I'm more then happy to do a trade.
