Just a quick update.
I started setting up the QT today, now just waiting for it to fill up so I can get a cycle going.
I have decided on a RD 65 watt return pump and a Bubble King Double Cone 200 skimmer.
I have also settled on the fish I want.

Regal Angel
Majestic Angel
Emperor Angel
Pair of Flame Angels
Bi Color Angel
Lemon Peel Angel
Blue or Purple Tang
Yellow Tang
Pair of Gold Stripped Maroon Clowns
Niger Trigger
Some kind of sand stirring fish.

I reckon I will get the Regal, pair of Flames and the clowns first up.

Cheers
Kean

Re: 6x2.5x2 QT up and running

Postby fishlover » Fri 09 May, 2014 7:33 pm

The QT is now up and running and going thru its cycle.Looking at getting the Regal Angel,Flame Angel pair and the Clowns first.
I have ordered my return pump and and skimmer.
Went for a Royal Exclusiv RD 3 Speedy pump 65 Watt from the group buy being run by Matt(NewyReefer)
For the skimmer I have ordered a Royal Exclusiv Bubble King Double Cone 2000 from Nick at Aquabella.Great bloke to deal with.
Also ordered my light from Marines Plus here in Adelaide.I went for a 8x80 watt ATI Powermodule.
Went and saw the guys at Marines Plus today and was told the cabinet will be ready for me to pick up next weekend so I can stain it.The glass was there for the tank and will be ready in a couple of weeks.

Anyway here are some crap pics of the QT setup in my garage.

Looks good, its getting serious now.
I think i saw you are m+ talking to rickie about lighting.,
I followed you, asking for a quote for two 5ft hybrids... wow they are crazy expensive!,
looks like you are running all the good gear! it becomes a big investment!

Yeh Ollie that would have been me.
I would love to run a Hybrid but they are out of my price range.
I decided to get the good gear first up this time instead of upgrading later.

Some good gear there Kean. I think it sounds like you are going to do this one 100% quality straight up, which I think is great and will reflect in the tank once it is up and going.

A bit of progress being made with the build.
The QT is cycling nicely and should be ready for the first fish in about 3 weeks.
I ordered the skimmer from Nick at Aquabella and the return pump thru the RD3 group buy being run by Matty. Also ordered 3 JNS dosing containers from Reef Secrets and the 8x80 Watt Powermodule from Marine Plus.
The cabinet is ready so I will be heading to Marine Plus on Saturday to pick it up.Then its just a matter of matching the stain color to the antique furniture in the dining room.

Have decided to add one more Angel to the must have list. The beautiful Queen Angel :-x

Cheers

Thanks so much to Nick from Aquabella for the amazing deals on the skimmer and return pump. Also big thanks to Matty(NewyReefer) for organizing a great GB on the pumps.I can't wait for the tank to arrive so I can start using this top end equipment.

Also received my Fuge light from Naqua, only ordered on Monday and turned up on Thursday.Great customer service.
Image

Just to top off a great day my Dosing Containers and a few test kits from Reef Secrets arrived.Cheers Daz and Matt.

I picked up the cabinet last weekend and starting staining it today.Got some boat varnish to paint the inside of the cupboard to try and protect the timber.
With a bit of luck the tank will be ready in a couple of weeks.
