Ha ha yeah Ryan it was a great pickup!

What are people's thoughts with my return pump, will a 5000lph be enough for return and 1 rowa reactor? Or should I get another pump to run the reactor and whatever else I end up running?

How big is the rowa reactor?

Will it be rowaphos you will be running or se other kind of media? I ask because some media works better if the flow through it is slower so you maybe ok with the return pump powering the return and reactor.

Mate I've got a spare wave line 10000 sitting in with my other stuff. I'm going to use it in the new growout/larvae system but you are more the welcome to borrow it to have a play with the flow rates.

Thanks for the replies,
The rowa reactor is just a small 2litre or so reactor. I normally only use it if I have phos issues. It's only about 400lph thru it.
I just ask as I use my 5000lph on the current setup to run the chiller, return And reactor. The flow is still high back to dt. So if I remove the chiller it should do it??

Damer, I might have to take u up on that offer!

Ah. That sunp picture makes more sense. All good then
Actually how is the fuge flow happening? By the looks of it the fuge level will never go higher than the filter sock outlet so it wont get any flow. If you are thinking of using valves I'd be a bit hesitant trying to control a level with a valve.
Sorry if I have missed anything else. Just hate wet floors, so better to ask.

Yeah I was going to use a valve but am a bit scared to. Maybe I just tee a line off the return to feed the fuge a bit and have to second bulkhead there just incase the level rises.

You could put a bulkhead in the fuge around the same height or a bit lower than the filter sock bulkhead and then control the flow with an outlet valve. Then have the other bulkhead on the fuge as overflow protection.

You could put a bulkhead in the fuge around the same height or a bit lower than the filter sock bulkhead and then control the flow with an outlet valve. Then have the other bulkhead on the fuge as overflow protection. Or forget the connection from the socks to the fuge and just tap off from the tank overflow and control flow to the fuge with a valve. Then whatever flows into the fuge can just head over into the next sump section via the bulkhead. No need for extra bulkheads and you can then have a larger water volume in the fuge. Still have sock blockage protection then as if overflow it goes into the fuge and over into the next sump area. Hope that makes sense.

Yeah that's a good point thommo. I might be able to make that happen.
I'll have to draw up some more sketchups.

I did have an idea to use the 3ft I have as the filter sock and fuge area and just buy a two foot tank for ro.
It will give me more water volume than the other 4ft to.
Hopefully the skimmer turns up tomorrow so I can see how big that is all made up to. Worried its going to be huge and not fit in the sump section.

I know ilona it's a slow process. And I don't think I could fit any bigger. This thing already looks huge

Here's my weekend endeavours

Decided that the garbage bin to mix salt just wasn't going to cut it. Here's my mixing station, it's not a new concept and I have copied the design from a heap of people in the states.

Thats a handy set-up. Well done. Will make life a lot easier when it comes to tank husbandry. Always a positive when the tank is easier to look after imo.

That is a nice looking metal stand, if i could ask did you just paint it with normal black paint? Or did you do more than that? I will be getting a metal stand myself and I do want it to last.

It's gal steel so didn't really need painting. But I didn't like the colour so I used gal primer two coats and then 4 coats black on the top.
If your getting a mild steel stand id suggest getting t powder coated so it lasts
