Thanks chromus.

Very valid point, we were all a bit sceptical but We tested it out, flexes about 20mm with 100kg on it. I'm hoping any light I have and cabinetry will not weigh more than that. I could add some bolt on corner braces if I have issues.

Nice, my ATI Hybrids are 22Kg each so I am watching for ways to mount them.

Great job with the stand so far. What are your plans when finished? Paint, powder, leave as is?

If u make the bracket fixed it would hold more chromus. Mine flexes because of the adjustable height. I'm not sure how tall I want to have the hood or how much room I will need between the glass and the steel to get in there.

My father in law thinks it will only need undercoat on the welds, I think I'll undercoat and paint it. Being gal I don't see the need for powder coating.

That was why I was asking. More only needs painting or coating for looks really. If you aren't fussed just some gal spray on the welds is good enough.

Only reason to paint it is if you don't like looking at Galv when you open the cabinet doors.

Agreed the black was a far better choice, lucky I get it from work.

I think the race is over rod. I'll definitely have water in it before the other two! Might even have all the fish in before Jamie gets water in his

Nah having a hood mate, just didn't want it sitting on the tank so the frame can hold it

Here's today's efforts.
Finished off the painting

Also think I have teed up some free malemine sheeting in white, so I think I'll be running a sheet in the bottom for sump, one under tank and then one on the back of the stand. Not sure if I want to run the hole in the centre section again or if I want to just cut holes for the pipes to come thru.
I think the idea of an electrical cupboard at one end is a good idea to. Keep the water away from electricals

Appears to be missing a front wall :poke: :spit:

The pumps and skimmer dont seem to match the scale so might be giving false sense of how much space u need.

Arr knew I was missing something ha ha. :konk:

The skimmer was just a model I downloaded so I'll see once the skimmer comes how big it is. The footprint on the web says
18½" x 13" . So I'm hoping that the 1/2 isn't really there so I can fit it in the sump.
For all those playing along at home it's a vertex 250.

Nice sketch-up work there! What are you planning for the top 2 rhs areas and what is the plan with the bottom lhs? Like your inlet section

Top middle is the refugium. Top right hand side is ro reservoir, should hold 70-80 litres.

The theory is I can have the inlet section overflow after the filter socks into the frag section, I'll put a tap on that so I can allow some flow to go thru the fuge. The return from fuge will still go to the fuge section though

I want to stop all snails from getting into the frag/skim/return sections

Hey mate with the fuge Im trying to understand (probably way out to :konk: ) I see that the water is supposed to go through the socks then under the baffle between the sock section and fuge but then where is it going? Also are you going to have an emergency overflow from the filter sock section to the frag section? Just wondering because if a few snail do get into that valve and block it/slow it up you might have a puddle on your hands :o looking good but mate you got that stand done quick as! Watching this makes me want to do another build lol

Looks good to me. Good point about the sock area. For me it looks like if the socks block totally up(for some reason) the water will keep filling until it goes on the floor. Possibly drop the fuge wier lower in height(20mm or so) and then you can use the Fuge drain as a back up? Or put another back-up line in ontop of your filter sock area.

I'll put a better orientation up tonight. The divider near the fuge doesn't go to the bottom of the tank. It will go into the first chamber, flow over to the filter socks then go under the next partition into the weir. Where the fuge has a 25mm bulkhead also to stop the flood

So what happens if your filter socks are blocked and the water fills up that section?
