The purpose of this forum is to allow people to showcase their tanks, and allow other uses to ask questions on equipment, livestock, methodology etc.
Specifically for Large Tanks with a Volume of 800 Litres and Above

Introduction : First attempt at a tank journal,tank Is acrylic,23 ft by 6 ft by 4.5ft,total water capacity is 18000lt. Some of you may know the tank as Samsung tank at Kambos,It now belongs to me


System Objectives: To provide sharks with a decent swimmig areas and replicate a small piece of the ocean

System Type: Sharks,rays,eels

Display System:

Strike up Date: aprox 3 months, need to remove section of roof to install tank and some modifications are required to the house

Display Lighting: Natural sunlight via skylights

Stand: Metal stand come with tank,needs shortened,height wise
Hood: Hood specifications.

Sump: 2000 lt sump

Refugium: NA

Refugium Lighting: NA
Support systems:

System Water: Natural salt water

Display Water circulation: sicce 15000 lt per hour pumps x 8

Return Pump 2 x 30000 lt a hour pumps,can not think of their name ATM

Skimmer: to be deciced
Evaporation Top Up: manual


Chemical Support:

Calcium Addition: NA

Alkilinity Addition: Bicarb

Other Chemical Maintenance: NA

Current Water Chemistry: If applicable
Nitrates:
Phosphates:
Alkalinity:
Calcium:
Salinity / Specific Gravity:
Magnesuim:

How did you get round asking the wife about removing half the roof of the house to get the tank in? (I assume you are a married bloke)

Any thoughts as to what type of sharks, et al. you'll be putting in specifically? It's a hell of a creation, it'll be nice to see it when you've got it going.

nOrk, I keep water on 22 cel to 24 cel ,via heating and cooling allows me to keep warm and cold sharks, current shark stock list that will be moved in to new tank Is, 1x large wards wobbegong [orectolobus wardi], 1 x large bamboo shark [chiloscyllium punctatum], 1 x small marbled catshark [atelomycterus macleayi], 4 x medium port jackson sharks [heterodontus portusjacksoni], 1 x large epaulette hallstromi, 1 x epaulette triseculare, 1 x large white tip reef shark [triaenodon obesus] 2 x large leopard eels [gymnothorax favia] 2 x large chain moray [echidna catenata] , 3 x bluespotted ribbontail ray [taeniura lymma]. Wish list is crossback stingaree [urolophus cruciatus] , bullseye stingray [urobatis concentricus] , would love to get a blacktip reef shark and a leopard shark [ triakis semifasciata] but tank is to small long term. :thumbsup:

Wow, Great to see you are getting your dream shark tank.
Could you explain how you moved the tank?
Also with a tank setup like this. How do you intend to handle task's like water changes, from what i understand large fish / Predators are messy eaters and need alot of filtration

Tank was moved out of shop on pallets and using pallet jacks , once out of shop it was loaded on a truck with a hiab and unloaded the same way,water is going to be trucked in 10000 lt at a time, same thing for water changes, truck pulls up and pumps 10000 lt in the tank and away he goes

Its about 3 to 4 months from being up and running, meeting is on the cards in the future :thumbsup:
