Part of why my updates are so big is that I always think if someone has the time to comment on my TJ, I like to take the time to respond. I've been doing it for 35 pages and 4 1/2 years why stop now? :pirate:

Sweet tank overall as usual!

Thanks, Izzywitt! I remember reading a thread once about how a tank reflects the owners personality, I guess I'm a pretty determined fella

Kettle calling the pot black, Mr Ridikas :roflmao: actually your photo's have improved heaps, at least they are in semi focus these days.

I took a couple of "AWESOME :roflmao: " side on photo's last night, SLR's and Photoshop are going to go out of business in no time.

Update

We'll it's not really an update but I pulled out the SLR last night. Amazing how different it is to take photos under T5 compared to MH. MH was so much easier.

I've also been meaning to give a plug to UCA corals http://www.ultracoralaustralia.com. These guys are collectors and only sell tank harden corals. Basically after they collect their corals they let them sit for a few weeks in holding tanks so that they acclimatise to tank conditions before they are shipped. I've found these tank harden corals are so much easier to maintain color and I have not yet experienced the random brown out and RTN of wild caught quickly shipped corals.

Another things that I like about UCA stock is the giant frags plus they use. I'm told that these giant frag plugs help them ship better and I think that most people dont realise how big UCA frags are! See picture below for an idea of size:

Image
Image

I haven't measured the actual size of the frag plugs but they are roughly 7-9cm diameter and almost always well encrusted. While UCA are not cheap, my experience is that they offer corals not common to the AU market but most importantly they are very tank harden and very large compared to normal frag plus sized corals.

I should point out I have no affiliation with UCA corals. They are just a good bunch of guys that deliver what they promise and have a genuine passion for the hobby and I thought the quality of their product and service deserves a mention.

Until next time, happy reefing, reefers.

Looking really good as usual. It's good that UCA hold their stock to acclimatise, more suppliers should do the same.

Well just scanned my way through this journal from start to finish. Boy what an amazing tank, the prep work at the start was fascinating and well thought out.
Its a shame so many fish were lost along the way to white spot and its clear that the frustrations of reefing tug at us all, but overall what a great journey!

Personally while I like the new set-up I feel like you've moved away from the 'inspiration' tank a few pages back? I suppose the mix of heavy base rock and then long rigid pieces would have been a nightmare to source to achieve the scape, but it would have made better use of the height in your tank IMO?

Full credit to you though for sticking it out, and journalling what was and continues to be a cracking display!
