Its been a while. :wavey:

The first night in a very long time that I've sat down, watched the cricket and started to think about what ill do with the extra free time.

My son is on the mend, which is a relief....for now.

Anyway, the wife ( I will refrain from calling her atilla the hun this time) wants me to start looking at house designs, looking at knocking down and building in the coming year.

So, having said this, it will give me a chance to incorporate my dream tank, sorry swimming pool

I have always wanted a very very large tank, i mean swimming pool. so the planning begins.

The wife has given it the ok in principle, as long as its not bigger then the swimming pool that I've promised her.

It is likely to be incorporated in an aviary/greenroom sort of room, one that will also house my birds (which i will be receiving in May  pair of Blue and Gold Macaws, pair of scarlets and a single greenwing macaw - couldn't find unrelated pair)

anyway, from the ashes comes a new tank ..................

obviously their will have to be a budget.. anyone know next weeks lotto numbers.......

Very excited for you, on both family health and new tank thinking. Incorporate the birds flying above the tank with one huge 20 foot high glass frontage. Maybe the bird poop will help with the cycle. :roflmao:

All,

Finalising designs for new house.

Jabba The Hut (The wife, aka Atilla the hun) is go with new Aquarium.

Aquarium is likely to be 10m long by 3m wide by 80cm - 1m high (Concrete) and incorporated into an Aviary room.

A logistic nightmare, but have some good people working on this part of the project.

Knock down of house is in November 2013, so have a long way to go.

Cannot wait to get back into the hobby.

Well,

I can't wait.

Who am I kidding.

Im trying to be patient but can't.

The new house will take a couple of years to complete - mainly because of funding, partly because of location (New house is in Queensland - Samford Valley, things I do to see my state win an origin series - hoping to bring my bad luck up there and see the Blues win the next 7 in a row  )

Anyway, have decided to make another man cave.

Will start pouring slab tomorrow. Roughly 10m by 4.5m.

Image

Would like to have several tanks in the new room, I'm also hoping to get back into breading Tropheus again.

Would like to have a wall of tanks and starting to research these as an option:
Image

Will be having a marine tank again even though i promised the missus I would only do Cichlids, but what the hell, she won't be able to stop me once its all in place, you only live once.... and I did remember her birthday last year, she forgot mine again..........

Yes, that buys me at least 10 rash purchases or decision....at least 10, i reckon I can get a few more on top of that before she really considers a divorce.

Will be doing this project on the cheap, which means Ill be building everything myself - room wise that is, will post pixs as room takes form.

A couple new additions to the family:
Maya - now 13mths old , Female - Male coming in June
Image
Born in December, pix taken by my son on iPhone in March ( 3mths old) - receiving them when fully weaned , approx delivery time july/August - in time hopefully for room completion

Im sore, annoyed, but turned out better then my last attempt.

Now not sure how long to leave it alone for to cure.

Ill get there.

Not much to report, been reading a lot and researching. :nut:

Been to a couple of shops to source quotes for various tanks, some think I'm joking or pulling their leg, so I won't be returning to them, their loss. :wall:

Narrows down the options to the LFS that know me really, and they are not always the cheapest but I do know that they will deliver on what they say they will.

Taken the formwork off the slab, pretty proud of the outcome actually.

Letting it sit for a month before I start working on the stud walls.

Still trying to decided on how many tanks, best way to have tanks etc.

Only things i have purchased in the last couple of days is sliding doors, windows and solatubes.

Going to be a long slog but an enjoyable one.

Looking at buying a framing gun - going down to a family friends tool shop tomorrow to purchase a framing gun, always wanted one and possibly a compound sliding saw, again always wanted one, sit right next to the compound saw I already have and look nice and pretty......

On a positive note, my wife doesn't mind me getting back into marines, as long as i can keep a the electrical bill down to a reasonable level (used to be $2500 a quarter with tank, down to $750 a quarter without) will mean that everything will have to be as efficient as can be and that I get the best out of the solatube, not to mention the most efficient pumps that i can find.

Will be investigating solar power panels and see if its worth it or not also.

So really just reading up on products and specs of products, does your head in, have learnt a lot from my previous tanks, lucky i made a list previously of things id do differently hopefully implement things I've learnt and read on others journals into this new tank - have to remind myself though that we will be moving to our new house in 5 years with and that will have a monster tank - the logistics on that is crazy and the estimates of costs of construction of tank and hardware is mind boggling...... but thats in the near future.

Will update with pixs in coming weeks....
