The tank has come along nicely as you can see and it's been great being able to sit down and watch it each night. ;)

Hi bLags

I noticed you have atree coral. I bought one today not knowing they they were difficult to keep. Firstly It hought Tree Corals were supposed to only be in the sand, but yours look very happy in its postion.

How do you maintain the health of your tree coral?

I had one in my old tank for a couple of years before the crash took it and most other stuff out :wall:

I just keep up the food supply in the tank and follow the principals as laid out in Eric Borneman's book Aquarium Corals. It needs consistant current of more than 5cm/sec, regular sandbed stirring and the homemade food I use has a lot of nutrient juices which all the corals benefit from as does this one.

If it is the fish in the first pic on page 2 it is a Sailfin Tang (Zebrasoma veliferum).
Great fish with lots of personality

Isn't Taxi the pest one we're not allowed to keep? Not critisising just asking. Have you had it spread from your sump into your display at any time?

C. taxifolia is legal and fine in Queensland, as it is a native to the GBR. It is just illegal as you head south, into the temperate regions where it is not native and can cause some serious problems if introduced.

Lovely tank blags.

One of the nicest puple tangs i have seen in Australia? well done, good pick up. Looks nice and healthy.

Do watch that blue face angel though....may take a liking to your corals sooner or later. How long you had him for. Any close up pics.

What coral is that on the right side.. The white branches with the little red "pom pom" looking polyps?

Nanomilk here is some info on the coral. Its hard to keep and you need excellent tank conditions to keep it IME.
