So sad to hear this Renae. :(

Reminds me of when I lost nearly every fish I had including some that I'd had for about ten years.

I feel your pain.

I'm glad I didn't chuck in the towel though as since then my tank has been cruising nicely.

I hope you stick with it, we need guys like you around to inspire and teach the noobs!

Rod.

thanks rod
I have been here before too not on quite such a large scale
it would be a lot of work to move the anemone and restart the tank
also quite heavy work don't think I can ask hubby with his back to do it again
but will leave it for a bit and think about it before deciding to pull the plug

Yeah you are probably right, it's a big aks, it's a big tank, but I think I could say with 100% accuracy that you and chris would be first in line to help all of us and have done so many many times! Not to mention letting a group of people including complete strangers into your house once a year after you two have put days worth planning and travel into masov events.

let's us repay the favour please.

really the big question is weather to pull the 18ft down and call it a day and concentrate on the 10ft ,cade and frag tank
or suck it up ask for help and keep running them all .

I don't know you, we've never met yet (well briefly, but you wouldn't know me).

But I'll bet you can fill that sucker with Frags and colonies from any number of people on this forum. Probably some fish as well.

Pretty sure that if you hit up some of the coral heads you could fill your tank with trimmings alone

Great thing about the MASA broader community is they love sharing

renae and chris so sorry to hear of your crash had the same thing happen to me about 10yrs ago. Perfect one day dead the next. I soldiered on, but I only had one tank. If you decide to pull it down pm me and ill give you a hand with the lifting. However this could be the start of a new project there are so many aspects to this hobby, this could be your chance to try something new. john

well we have decided to keep it going for now anyway !!!!will do a bit of rearranging and a few changes
my thoughts at this point is too go back to a mixed reef i prob have enough corals between the tanks to almost fill it lol
the hard part is what to do with the anemone ??? he is too big for most home tanks so selling him is not likely ,Chris really likes him
he is too big for the cade or a cube on his own ,we could put him in the 6ft on his own which can be isolated from 18ft if he starts to wander
would need to ask for help with moving rocks out of 6ft and moving him into 6ft
as for fish !!1 i will wait till all the rearranging has been done before adding any
am limited in water changes atm as the tourists take over here during summer so getting near the water is almost impossible :wall:

sadly the anemone went through the power head on christmas night woke up boxing day to all dead fish :( :(
the anemone has pulled throgh and moved back to his rock :furious: :furious:
after lots of carbon ect we are left with 3 clown fish ,leopard wrasse ,a lawn mower blenny and 1 small chromis
as this is connected to the 6ft tank all its fish are also dead
am at this point completely guttered :( :(
not sure if we will continue with these tanks

That is terrible news Renae. Glad the MASOV members have rallied!

I recently lost all the fish and inspiration to continue. My 3rd wipeout in 9 years.

You will bounce back, just need to find the motivation.

so we have been battling poor water conditions since the disaster ,which i was sort of expecting but hasn't helped my enthusiasm for this tank :wall:
the ever increasing phos levels have been hard on the corals that survived and the tank looks pretty ordinary :poke:
so today we will attemp to tackle the aptsia ,hair algy and generally clean it up
i removed all the acans earlier this week as they were suffering badly and they are in the frag tank for now .
will be a big day but hopefully a move in the right direction
