Anyone know if the Automatic Fish feeder is available here in AUS yet? Think that will be my next purchase.

I have a bit of practice from remoting into my mates apex a thousand times in Texas from Perth.

If you get stuck i can give pointers.

On that note, make sure you label your devices logically, temp1, alk1, powerbar1_1 (for powerbar1 socket1), starting out with a logical and rigid system will save you heartache when you expand later.

This would be great, i also have a bit of knowledge but only done limited router set ups but ya can't beat some instructions. with the feeder i know they sold out instantly in the US and they are on back order for US stores so prob be a while before any come through to Aus stores.

The apex is awesome, wish it came a little earlier as i had massive temp swings due to the dodgy thermostats in my heaters and lost some more sps last week.

I saw a post from neptune saying they are aware that gmx has blocked email traffic from the apex's.

Unfortunately, my isp's smtp server and gmail requires encryption.

I might try setting up a mail proxy in my network to see if i can get alerts working

I picked mine up from Reeflections last night.

The Aus version is also the full controller with variable speed ports as well instead of the "Lite" controller which I thought we were getting.

Even more tempted to go for programmable Tunze pumps now for the next tank since I wont have to buy another module to control them.

For anyone planning on using the android app. Don't change the apex web port and don't use a password that has the "@" character. The app couldn't connect to the server when I changed the port to another number and I had an "@" character in my password.

For anyone that has a dynamic IP and wants to access their apex when they are away from home, I am using the dynamic dns service from http://www.noip.com. You sign up for a hostname and run a program on a computer at your home which updates your current IP address with their servers.

Then you can access your apex via the hostname from no-ip.com.

Note: You also have to forward port 80 to your Apex IP address in your router config.

Have you updated your firmware to 4.31 yet.?? when I did mine I lost the tiles on the dashboard reset the memory it came back then tried again and lost it again...

For anyone with Telstra Bigpond. Their mail server still works with port 25 "Unencrypted" so you can use your bigpond account with the Apex, even though their "SMTP settings" page says to use encryption:

My email settings for bigpond are:
Email Enable: Enabled
SMTP Server: mail.bigpond.com
SMTP Port: 25
From Address: bigpond_username@bigpond.com
To Address: YOUR_REGULAR_EMAIL_ADDRESS
Email Authentication: Enabled
User name: bigpond_username
User Password: bigpond_password

I'm actually over in WA at the moment and I dropped into to see Graeme at Aquadepot yesterday. I'm pretty sure he had the auto feeder in stock. Not sure about other stores but I know Ben at Age of Aquariums quoted me $157.50. That includes the MASA members 10% discount. I think it's one of the more expensive accessories.

From conversations I had with Ben at Age of Aquariums the decision was made to just stick with the unit that comes with the Lab grade probe as the cost difference was minimal but the quality difference is significant.

FYI, you may have to wait a little for the next shipment of Apex units, I think you'll find the first shipment sold as fast as it came in, Age of Aquarium state on their website that they are taking orders for delivery mid Feb.

As for pricing, I know Age of Aquariums have it on their site for $899 but as Chromus mentioned, if you go along to the MASWA meeting at the Aquarium Gallery they may offer "on the night discounts"
