Cirolanid Isopods

Introduction

These are a type of Isopod that is rarely found in marine aquaria. They are considered a parasite, but probably a better name for them are predators that are simply too small to actually consume their prey entirely. Only real way to remove them from a reef tank is by removing the fish they are attached to, then extracting it from the fish using tweezers. Care must be taken to ensure that undue damage is not cause to the fish. The wound can be treated with iodine, then the fish returned to the tank.
