Introduction
There are currently 449 described species found in 62 genera belonging to the family Serranidae. Many of these species are beautiful and brightly coloured including those from the subfamily Anthiinae. The members of this subfamily that are often found in the hobby include Luzonichthys, Plectranthias, Pseudanthias and Serranocirrhitus. Pseudanthias is probably the most common. Many of the colourful species from these genera are difficult to keep and perish in captive. They are not recommended for the average hobbyist.
