Introduction

Commonly referred to as Spindle Weed. A calcerous algae which requires good calcium and alkalinity levels to grow well. Tends to appear on fresh liverock, but rarely survives long term.

Characteristics

Thallus is club-shaped, calcified, worm-like, unbranched, unicells that are 1 to 2.5 centimetres tall. The calcification is ring-like, with segmented bands.[1]
