Coral Fluorescence
From RTAW Reefpedia
Introduction
Fluorescence is the phenomenon that occurs when something absorbs light of a particular wavelength / colour and then emits it again at a different wavelength / colour. There is always energy lost in this process, so the emitted light has a lower energy. Many corals have the ability to fluoresce and do so whenever they are exposed to the correct wavelength, which will be when ever the lights are on.
